 Antrim County Increases Cybersecurity
County Email and Website Address Changes

BELLAIRE, Mich. -- On Tuesday, April 2, Antrim County’s official website address is changing to www.antrimcountymi.gov. Website content is not changing. In the past, a “.gov” domain extension was expensive, but in 2021, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency shifted to a no cost .gov for U.S. based government organizations.

Using .gov increases security for the public, assuring that they are accessing an official government agency site. In addition, a .gov website protects visitor privacy and ensures the validity of website content through the use of a secure connection. Antrim County, by moving to .gov, is also increasing compliance with the many legal and regulatory requirements that apply to counties.

Another advantage to the change is that .gov websites are often prioritized by search engines. This has the potential to increase access for users searching for government-sponsored information and local community attractions.

County email addresses are also changing. For example, countyadmin@antrimcounty.org is a current email address; the new address will be countyadmin@antrimcountymi.gov. In coming months, the County will be changing webpages, social media, forms, email signatures, business cards, letterheads, and more to show the new .gov website and email addresses.

“By switching to a .gov domain, Antrim County is not only strengthening the security of our online presence, but also reinforcing our commitment to transparency,” said County Administrator Jeremy Scott. “This change ensures the public can access county services and confidently communicate with our employees.”

To ease the transition, the old antrimcounty.org email and website addresses will continue to work through the end of the year. For more information, please contact the Antrim County Administration Office at countyadmin@antrimcountymi.gov or call us at 231-533-6265.
