Carl
Goeman, Emergency Services Director, informed the Committee about an
available grant opportunity for additional staffing in the Emergency Services
Department, to assist with the application of future grants and provide
assistance with the upcoming emergency exercises. The grant would be for an additional
$25,000 and is guaranteed only for the year 2004, but may be extended for one
more year. |

Motion by Dave Howelman,
supported by Larry Bargy, to recommend the Board of Commissioners approve the
grant application, through the Office of Domestic Preparedness, to augment
staffing at the Emergency Services Department for the year 2004, in the
amount of $25,000. Motion carried –
unanimous. |

3. Sheriff Department Update |

Dan
Bean, Undersheriff, informed the Committee the sign for the Animal Shelter
has been ordered. |

4. Animal Shelter Update |
|||||
|
|
Peter
Garwood, Coordinator/Planner and Undersheriff Bean indicated the Animal
Shelter completion date has been moved to the second week in December. |

5. Driving in Behalf of the County |

|
|
Mr.
Garwood indicated there was nothing to report on this issue, as he and the
Sheriff were unable to get together to work on it this past month. |
