2. Emergency Operations - 2004 Grant Approval |
|||||
|
|
Carl Goeman, Emergency Services Director, joined the meeting to discuss a grant application for 2004 Homeland Security. |
||||
|
|
Motion by Bernie Blackmore, supported by Dave Howelman, to recommend the Board of Commissioners approve the grant application for $145,912 for the 2004 Homeland Security Grant and authorize the Chairman and Clerk to sign the application. Motion carried – unanimous. |

3. Sheriff Department |

o 911 Budget Request The Committee reviewed the revenue figures from the 911 surcharge in light of the submitted proposed budget. |
||||
|
|
Motion by Bernie Blackmore, supported by Dave Howelman, to approve the 911 proposed budget, including the addition of a ninth dispatcher and other amendments, for submittal to the Finance Committee and the Board of Commissioners. Motion carried – unanimous. |

o Other Budget Requests The Committee reviewed the other Sheriff Department budget requests. |
||||
|
|
Motion by Bernie Blackmore, supported by Dave Howelman, to approve the Animal Control, Marine Patrol, Secondary Road Patrol, Jail, Sheriff, Road Patrol Fund and other minor funds, budget requests for submittal to the Finance Committee and the Board of Commissioners. Motion carried – unanimous. |

4. 911 Dispatch System |

|
|
Committee reviewed the two quotes for which they saw equipment demonstrations last month. |
||||
|
|
Motion by Bernie Blackmore, supported by Dave Howelman, to recommend the Board of Commissioners approve the proposal from DSS Corporation for the system recorder in the Dispatch Center totaling $24,978 out of the Wireless Fund. Motion carried – unanimous. |

|
Steve Bratschi, Dispatch Supervisor, presented a quote from Verizon for three (3) computers and associated equipment for the Dispatch Center. |
||||
|
|
Motion by Bernie Blackmore, supported by Dave Howelman, to recommend the Board of Commissioners approve the quote from Verizon, to provide three computers and associated equipment, for $29,060.92 out of the wireless fund. Motion carried – unanimous. |

|
|
Mr. Bratschi explained that in order to remain compliant with the statutes guiding lien security, new equipment must be purchased. Mr. Bratschi presented a quote in the amount of $16,040 (including a new computer, and networking). |

Motion by Dave Howelman, supported by Bernie Blackmore, to recommend the Board of Commissioners approve the lien compliancy equipment purchase for $16,040 from the wireless fund. Motion carried – unanimous. |

|
|
Sheriff Johnson informed the Committee, the lower end on one of the Marine Patrol boats is out. He will try to get it repaired as soon as possible. |

5. Animal Control Update |

|
|
The Sheriff informed the Committee that Petrie Construction has not responded to our certified letter. The Sheriff indicated Building and Grounds Committee will address this issue at their next meeting. |

6. Antrim County Safe Driving Policy |
