1.         Call to Order

 

Meeting called to order at 8:35 a.m. by Rick Diebold.

2.         Organizational Meeting

 

     Election of Officers

Pete Garwood asked the Authority if it would be possible to carry the same slate of officers from the Economic Development Corporation to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. 

 

Motion Made by Laura Stanek, supported by Bob Peterson to appoint Rick Diebold as President, Thomas Lane as Vice President, Sherry Comben as Treasurer, and Jerome Simowski as Secretary.  Motion carried – unanimous.

 

     Meeting Dates and Time

Motion by Pete Garwood, seconded by Jerome Simowski, to meet regularly after the EDC meeting (8:30 a.m. on the 3rd Tuesday of January, April, July and October).  Motion carried - unanimous.

3.         Minutes of the February 8, 2005 Meeting

 

Motion by Bob Peterson, seconded by Sherry Comben, to approve the February 8, 2005 minutes.  Motion carried - unanimous.

4.         Nomination of Two Members for the Selection of the Environmental Consultant

 

Rick Diebold Reminded the Authority that Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA) has received an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Grant to identify Brownfield’s in Antrim, Charlevoix, and Emmet Counties.  Mr. Diebold also informed the Authority that he has talked to Andy Hayes, Director of the NLEA, about the selection of the two people that are to be appointed from the Authority to an Environmental Consultant Selection Committee.  It was recommended to appoint the two people to the NLEA Committee that also serve on the NLEA Board. 

 

Motion Made by Jerome Simowski, supported by Sherry Comben, to appoint Pete Garwood and Rick Diebold to the NLEA Environmental Consultant Selection Committee.  Motion carried – unanimous.

5.         Old Business

 

 None.

6.         New Business

 

Pete Garwood informed the Authority that he along with Joe Meyers met with Barb Bradford and Gary Knapp about possibly combining three properties that would make the Industrial Park (around two hundred acres) and putting a “green” development there.  Rick Diebold asked the staff if they could do some research on green developments for the next meeting.
