Meetings:  The Health & Public Safety Committee typically meets the Wednesday of the 2nd week prior to the Board meeting. Location is Room 211 of the Antrim County Building at 203 E. Cayuga Street, Bellaire, Michigan. If you wish to be on the agenda, please contact the Administration and Planning Office (231-533-6265) at least one week in advance.

Note:  Prior to October 9, 2014, the activities of the Health and Public Safety Committee were divided among three committees; Human Services, Transportation, and Health, Animal Control & Public Safety.

The Health and Public Safety Committee discusses and makes recommendations to the County Board of Commissioners on operational and policy matters concerning the County health system, animal shelter and control, law enforcement, court system, and emergency services.

This Committee oversees the following:
     Antrim County Airport
     Antrim County Transportation
     Commission on Aging
     Emergency Services Department
     Housing Department
     Probate Court
     Prosecutor’s Office
     Sheriff’s Office
     Veteran’s Affairs

This Committee also exercises operational and/or budgetary oversight functions over the Circuit Court, Friends of the Court, District Court, NW Michigan Community Health Agency, 911 Board, Human Services, Department of Human Services, Community Mental Health.
