April 2005 Survey - Summary Report
This is the report (still incomplete in one section) that analyzes and interprets the results of the 2005 Opinion Survey. It is a summary of the responses from the survey, and hilights subject areas where there were areas of agreement, disagreement, and neutral responses.
Sections that discuss areas of potential controversy, as implied by responses that show opinions evenly divided between strongly positive and strongly negative responses, are currently being written. The updated report containing these sections, when complete, will be made available for download here.

Data Compilation volume

At more than 250 pages, this volume is a compilation of the detailed results of the 2005 Master Plan opinion survey. For each question, the responses are presented in tabular as well as graphical formats. The write-in comments, if any, by respondents to each question are listed at the end of each page. In addition, the data volume lists the comments given by respondents at the end of each section of the survey, as well as the comments given by the respondents at the end of the survey under "Additional Comments."
No attempt is made to interpret these survey results. See the Summary Report for interpretion.

July 26, 2005, Presentation
This PowerPoint presentation was given to the Village Planning Commission to report on the progress of the data compilation tasks. It shows the efforts by the citizen volunteers in creating, collating, and mailing the survey, and shows volunteers performing data input tasks for the survey. Response rate statistics are also shown.

Responses to Rental-related Questions
This extract from the Data Compilation volume (still in draft form at the time) was prepared in the late summer of 2005 and distributed to the Committee, appointed by the Village Council, that was deliberating the issue of short-term rentals in Elk Rapids. This is a compilation of only those survey questions that asked respondents to comment on the issue of short- and long-term rentals in Elk Rapids. The committee used this compilation as part of their knowledge base for preparing their recommendations to the Village Council.

Responses to Parks & Recreation-related Questions
This extract from the Data Compilation volume (still in draft form at the time) was prepared in the early winter of 2005 and distributed to the Village Parks & Recreation Commission. This is a compilation of those survey questions related to environment, recreation, and parks in Elk Rapids. The Park& Recreation Commission is using this compilation to help plan and compile the Village Recreation Plan, scheduled for completion in late 2006.

Responses to Parks & Recreation-related Questions by Age
This study took the responses to the Parks & Rec questions in the survey and sorted them by age group. The Parks & Rec Commission noted that there was a tremendous skew toward older respondents in the survey, and commissioned this analysis to see if there were any differences in the response to any given question by age group.
Again, this document is a compilation of the responses to the Parks & Rec-related questions by age. No interpretation has been attempted to date.

Responses to Harbor- and Waterfront-related Questions
This extract from the Data Compilation volume (still in draft form at the time) was prepared in the early winter of 2005 by the Village Manager's office for distribution to the Harbormaster and the Village Harbor Commission. This is a compilation of those survey questions related to topics of interest to the Harbor Commission in their mission to complete a Harbor Master Plan by the end of 2006.
