Antrim County Property - Alba Road and M66 Chestonia Township

The Alba Road and M66 parcel consists of 3 contiguous parcels located at the junction of Alba Road and M66. 40 acres known as the Bundy Hill lies on the West side of M66. Antrim County Property - Frog Hollow Custer Township

Details:
The County received this parcel from the State of Michigan in 1952 under Michigan's Natural Resources Environmental Protection Act PA 451. The parcel is easily accessed at the end of Frog Hollow Road. The forest contains one of the only oak forest owned by the County. Forest management had focused on improving the growing environment for red oak.

Antrim County Property - Hawk Lake Mancelona Township

The Hawk Lake parcel contains 160 acres and is contiguous with the Mancelona School Forest to the West and State Lands to the North, East and South. It is primarily Red Pine Plantation although other forest types do exist on the parcel. On the South Side of C38 is Hawk Lake, the County owns approximately 150 feet of lake shore on Hawk Lake, a relatively shallow inland lake. The parcel has be intensively managed for the production of forest products.

Antrim County Property - Kirkpatrick Forest Forest Home Township

Details:
The Walter Kirkpatrick forest area was dedicated to Mr. Kirkpatrick for his live-long love and dedication to the forests here in Antrim County. Mr. Kirkpatrick, along with Raymond Murphy and Edgar Wright were responsible for the acquisition of much of the County owned forest land properties. The county received the property under Michigan's Natural resources and Environmental Protection Act PA 451.

The Kirkpatrick forest is contiguous to the Glacial Hills Natural Area and together make up over 785 acres of public forest land.

Antrim County Property - Lake of the Woods Custer Township

Details:
The County received the Lake of the Woods 40 acres in October of 1940. It was purchased in conjunction with several other parcels from the State of Michigan under PA 451, Michigan's Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act. Later, 20 acres was given to Custer Township for the development of a day park. Both parcels are used primarily for recreational purposes.

Antrim County Property - Murphy Park Echo Township

Antrim County Property - Pete Wilks Memorial Forest Kearney Township

Details:
The County received the Wilks parcel from the State of Michigan in July of 1942 under Michigan's Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act PA 451. The forest was dedicated to Pete Wilks as a memorial forest in recognition of Mr. Wilks contribution to the management and use of Antrim County's forest lands.

The parcel wa primarily cutover forestland and being used for agricultural purposes prior to the land transfer. Today the parcel is primarily northern hardwood forest and is being manage to produce higher valued wood products.

From Bellaire: Travel 3 miles north to Ritt Rd. on Co. Rd. 620. N 1/2, NW 1/4, and N 1/2, SE 1/2, NW 1/4 of Section 8. Drive in access is from Ritt Road.

Antrim County Property - Valley Road Mancelona Township

The Valley Road parcel is just outside the Village of Mancelona. It was deeded to the County in 1940 under Michigan's Natural resources and environmental Protection Act PA 451. The parcel remained landlocked until 2008 when the County purchased an adjoining 1 acre of land to provide forest management and public access to the parcel from Valley Road.

The parcel contains a 20 acre pine plantation established in 1970. The remaining acreage is northern hardwood forest and managed for the production of sustainable forest products.

Deadman's Hill Scenic Outlook Warner Township

Jordan River Pathway Star Township

This scenic dive includes connecting seasonal County Roads that travel though the Jordan River Valley. Jordan River Valley - Mackinaw State Forest Jordan Township, Kearney Township, Mancelona Township
Details:
The Jordan River drains an area of approximately 127 square miles in Antrim and Charlevoix counties. The mainstream is 22.9 miles long. There are 29 named tributaries totaling 90 miles. Major tributaries include Green River, Deer Creek, and Landslide Creek.

In 1972, the Jordan River was designated the first wild-scenic river in the State of Michigan under authority of Part 305 of the Michigan Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (PA451).

The Jordan River Valley supports a wide variety of recreational activities. Many activities center on the river and river corridor. Activities include fishing, canoeing, swimming, hunting, trapping, mushrooming, hiking, photography, and snowmobiling.
Driving Directions:
In Antrim County - the Jordan River Valley is contained primarily within Chestonia, Jordan and Warner Townships. There are 12 county roads providing vehicular access into the Jordan river Valley upstream from Graves Crossing. Five of these roads provide drive-through access; the remainder provide access to specific destinations, such as Deadman's Hill Scenic Overlook.
