General Recreational Infrastructure

·         Nothing.  Leave our quaint town alone.

·         Better signage - 'Welcome to Elk Rapids’, etc.

·         Clearer markings (lines) on roads

·         Do joint planning with all townships in area

·         Continue Elk Rapids Sportsman's Club lease

·         Dedicated walking trails.

·         Connect all homes in Village to sewer!

·         Definitely add the outdoor ice rink & cross-country ski trails.  It'll encourage people to come in the winter, and then the hotels will have good business.

·         North beach area.

·         Parking for above [events in village].

Parks and Related Facilities

·         Dog park.

·         Park w/township --- camping, etc.

·         More tennis courts and outdoor ice rinks

·         Small pavilion and bathrooms in Park.

·         Tennis courts

·         Tennis & soccer.

·         Pavilion for picnic use.

·         More basketball courts.

Bathrooms

·         Behind power dam: need decent restroom or toilet, also vegetation, general improvement. No excuses that County owns it. We know they would approve improvements.

·         Reasonable bathroom facilities for public gatherings

·         1 bathroom = men;
1 bathroom = women

·         2-stall bathroom --- seasonal

·         open the restrooms on Cedar Street at night.

·         Use of bathrooms at bay access.

·         Old Power bldg, in back of: bathroom facilities need improvement, also the natural areas

·         Amphitheatre in park is not needed but a nice bathroom is!

Water-related Activities (including Harbor)

·         Indoor swimming pool (w/school)

·         Community Swimming Pool

·         Community indoor pool

·         Fix boat ramp by the Chamber, get rid of stumps to make path out!

·         Facility for pumping station for boats on chain of lakes

·         Continue to improve harbor

·         A fishing dock extending way out into the bay.

·         Increase of docking facilities in both upper and lower harbors.

·         Boat ramps into Elk Lake

·         Public access to waterways.

Youth Activities

·         We need a place for teens ALL YEAR LONG, safe and supervised

·         Community/teen center
