I.          Call to Order

 

Bob Peterson called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.

II.           Organizational Meeting

 

Leonard Klein nominated Bob Peterson as Chairperson

Motion by Jill Barnard, supported by Gene Dawson, to close the nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Bob Peterson as Chairman.  Motion carried – unanimous.

Gene Dawson nominated Mike McPherson as Vice Chairperson.

Motion by Leonard Klein, supported by Gene Dawson, to close the nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Mike McPherson as Vice Chairman.  Motion carried – unanimous.

Motion by Bill Gadwau, supported by Jill Barnard, to recommend the meeting date and times are the Monday preceding the Public Works Committee at 3:00 pm.  Motion carried – unanimous.

III.       Public Comment

 

Brad and Amanda Kik and Dianne Goode spoke in favor of recycling.

IV.       Approval of Minutes

 

Motion by Bill Gadwau, supported by Jill Barnard, to approve the minutes from the December 4, 2006 meeting.  Motion carried – unanimous.

V.         Public Act 138

 

Joe Meyers explained where the Committee was in regards to the recycling program. 

 

Joe informed the Committee of the townships that had responded to the survey and the results were:

Discussion ensued over the program as a whole and the steps to move forward. 

 

Raelene Reilly indicated that she would be more than happy to contact the Townships that we have not yet responded.

VI.       Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Days Update

 

None.

VII.       Member Comment

 

Brad Kik informed the Committee of the cost savings his family would have if there were a recycling program.

 

Discussion ensued over recycling in general.
