 1.         Call to Order

 

Bob Peterson called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m.

2.         Election of Officers

 

Leonard Klein nominated Bob Peterson for chair.

Motion by Leonard Klein, supported by Mike Domsic to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Bob Peterson as Chairman.  Motion carried – unanimous.

Gene Dawson nominated Mike Domsic for Vice Chair.

Mike Domsic nominated Gene Dawson for Vice Chair.

Motion by Leonard Klein, supported by Gene Dawson to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Mike Domsic as Vice Chairman.  Motion carried – unanimous

Motion by Leonard Klein, supported by Gene Dawson to set the meeting dates and times for 2008 as the 4th Monday of the month at 3:00 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners Room.  Motion carried – unanimous. 

3.         Public Comment

 

None.

4.         Approval of Minutes

 

Motion by Gene Dawson, supported by Leonard Klein, to approve the minutes from the December 1, 2008 meeting as written.  Motion carried – unanimous.

5.         Household Hazardous Waste Days

 

Discussion ensued over the potential to have another HHW day for this earth day.  This would be only if the EPA would extend our grant date. 

Discussion ensued over holding a HHW Day in April.

Motion by Leonard Klein, supported by Jim Palmer, to hold a HHW Day on April 22, 2009 if we can extend the grant deadline.  Motion carried – unanimous.

Discussion ensued over the HHW Days and whether or not to revamp the schedule.

Motion by Mike Domsic, supported by Sue Reck to have two collections this year, one in April (Bellaire) and one in August (Elk Rapids) and to have the first 50 pounds free and $0.50 a pound after that. Motion carried – unanimous.  

6.         Recycling Program

 

Discussion ensued over the recycling program.

Motion by Mike Domsic, supported by Sue Reck to pursue 8 recycling sites throughout the county (Bellaire, Central Lake, Mancelona, Alba, Alden, Ellsworth, Kewadin, and Elk Rapids). Motion carried – unanimous.
