Minutes

Members Present:

Al Martel, Joe Meyers, Heidi Lang, Jim Gurr (entered at 8:15) John Peal, Steve Drenth, Pepper Bromelmeier and Charlie Koop

Public Present:

Doug Strain, Ed Martel, Kent McNeil, Al Luurtsema, Jerry Green and other members of the public.

Al Martel called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

The Committee went around the table and gave introductions. 

The Committee discussed efficient ways to go through the ordinance with public opinion.  Al Martel discussed inviting different interest groups to different meetings for a wide range of comments.  Mr. Martel further noted that they would have public input sessions at the beginning and end of every session.  The Committee agreed that they needed to have consensus on substantive changes.  Mr. Martel noted that the Planning Commission would have public hearings on the ordinance.

The Committee discussed some of the problems with the ordinance.

Jerry Green spoke on the Road Commission being the largest offender of soil erosion and spoke on the question of if the County had the authority.

The next committee meetings will be held on July 12^th, August 9^th and September 13^th with public hearings on August 1^st and September 5^th. 

Ed Martel questioned who brought this to the Commissioners attention. 

Charlie Koop indicated the process of the ordinance. 

Kent McNeil spoke on the ordinance and the Committee.

Mr. Martel noted that all public opinion will be noted that passed on the Board of Commissioners. 

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

The next meeting will be at the Antrim County Board of Commissioners Room on

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
