Minutes

 

Members Present:

 

Stan Moore, Don Schuiteman, Jerome Dobrzelewski, Mike Meriwether,  Al Pecar and Russ Blasdell

Members Absent:

Mike Crawford, Mark Stone and Linda Gallagher

Joe Meyers and Eileen Wallick

I.          Call to Order

 

Stan Moore called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m.

II.        Election of Officers, meeting dates and times

 

Don Schuiteman nominated Stan Moore for chairperson.

Motion by Don Schuiteman Supported by Jerry Dobrzelewski to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Stan Moore as Chairman. Motion carried - unanimous.

Russ Blasdell nominated Don Schuiteman for vice chairperson.

Motion by Russ Blasdell, Supported by Stan Moore, to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Don Schuiteman as Vice Chair. Motion carried - unanimous.

Motion by Jerry Dobrzelewski, Supported by Don Schuiteman to have the meeting date and times on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.  Motion carried - unanimous.

 

III.       Public Comment

 

None.

IV.       Minutes

 

Motion by Don Schuiteman, supported by Jerry Dobrzelewski, to approve the minutes of September 25, 2007 as presented.  Motion carried – unanimous.

V.         Wetzel Lake Sign

 

The committee discussed the Wetzel Lake sign. 

 

Motion by Don Schuiteman, S upported by Jerry Dobrzelewski, to recommend that Parks  recommend to finance that they approve the Wetzel Lake sign. 

Motion carried - unanimous.

 

VI.       Elk Rapids Dam Parking Lot

 

Gene Dawson spoke about the redevelopment of the dam parking lot.  Discussion ensued over the parking lot and the ideas the village has.

 

Discussion ensued over the potential for a boat launch on Lake Michigan and how that could effect funding this project. 

 

Discussion ensued over which project was more valuable.

 

VII.      Petoskey Stone Festival

 

 Discussion ensued over non-stone related vendors.  This matter was tabled until the next meeting.

VIII.    Various Matters

 

Don Schuiteman spoke about the snowmobile trail to Bellaire and the positive and negative aspects to snowmobiling.
