Don Schuiteman called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. |

III. Approval of the June 26, 2007 Minutes |

|
|
Motion by Jerome Dobrzelewski, supported by Russ Blasdell, to approve the June 26, 2007 minutes as presented. Motion carried – unanimous. |

IV. Barnes Park Ordinance |
|||
|
|
Discussion ensued over the Barnes Park Ordinance. The Committee commented on some grammatical changes that needed to be made and indicated that they would like to have the ordinance encompass the entire park and not what is deemed park land. The Committee also commented on adding a section about how pet owners should be required to clean up after their dogs.
Motion by Mark Stone, supported by Jerome Dobrzelewski, to recommend the Parks Committee accept the changes to the Barnes Park Ordinance as amended. Motion carried – unanimous.

V. Various Matters |

|
Discussion ensued over a spook trail and the boat launch on Lake Michigan.
The Committee directed the Coordinator/Planner's Office to research the deed on the Torch Bay Nature Preserve.
Mark Stone spoke on the Hydro Dam Facility and the changing from Traverse City Light and Power to Elk Rapids Hydroelectric Power, LLC tomorrow. Mark also spoke on a potential grant that the Village of Elk Rapids is hoping to acquire to improve the dam facilities parking lot.
Discussion ensued over the Petoskey Stone Festival and the success of next years.
