Stan Moore called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m.

Motion by Jerry Dobrzelewski, supported by Don Schuiteman, to approve the July 22, 2008 minutes. Motion carried – unanimous.

IV. Various Matters |
|||
|
|
The Committee discussed having a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting with the County Lands , Agriculture and Forestry Committee and the Parks Committee to discuss upcoming projects.
Discussion ensued over the Parks and Recreation Plan and how it will be a continuous agenda item until it is complete.
Further discussion ensued over the Parks and Recreation Forum. The Board asked the Coordinator/Planners Office to contact Camp Hayo-Went-Ha to inquire about a conference room where the forum can be held.
Discussion ensued over the request for the increase of the budget and the forums in 2009.
Discussion ensued over the Emerald Ash Borer and the issues the county is facing because of them.
Discussion ensued over the Spook Trail.
Motion by Don Schuiteman, supported by Jerry Dobrzelewski, to authorize the spook trail, if we get enough volunteers to run the event, with Stan Moore and Joe Meyers as the authorizing authority. Motion carried – unanimous.
Discussion ensued over putting an oil and gas pipeline on the rail trail and the benefits that the pipeline could provide to the county.
Discussion ensued over bikes at ACNA.
Further discussion ensued over purchasing the 10 acres adjacent to Barnes Park.
Motion by Linda Gallagher, supported by Don Schuiteman to request the Parks Committee look into acquiring the 10 acres adjacent to Barnes Park, possibly through a grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. Motion carried – unanimous.
