Sheriff Terry Johnson joined the meeting. Walt and Dee Owens joined the meeting. The Owens’ were concerned because they received a letter indicating that their house number must be changed to be consistent with the County house numbering system. |

Sheriff Johnson informed the Committee that the agreement, with the Tribe to reserve two cells (in the Antrim County Jail) for Tribal prisoners for $25,700 for the year, has been signed.
Sheriff Johnson informed the Committee that the State inspected the jail and gave a rating of 100% compliance.
Sheriff Johnson indicated that the Community Corrections and the Drug Court Programs are the only things that are keeping our jails from being overcrowded.
The Sheriff shared with the Committee that the animal control staff have indicated a need for additional personnel to adequately run the program. The Committee directed the Coordinator/Planner Office to survey the surrounding counties to see how much staff they have in their animal control programs. |

4. Michigan Emergency Management Assistance Compact (MEMAC) |

Mr. Garwood indicated that Carl Goeman, Emergency Management Coordinator, was not able to make the meeting, but wanted the Committee to know about the Michigan Emergency Management Assistance Compact (MEMAC). Each Committee member received a packet for review. Mr. Garwood provided a quick overview of the program. The subject will be brought up at the next meeting of the Health, Animal Control and Public Safety Committee. |
