Minutes
Meeting held at Antrim Creek Natural Area
ACNA Commission Members Present:			Jerroll Drenth and Carl Veenstra
Members Absent:			Jacob Veenstra, Gary Strange
Others Present:			Jack White, Pete Garwood, David Jones, and Nancy Jones
1.         Call to Order
	The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
2.         Public Comment
	Mr. David Jones commented that after 10 years the trails are beginning to experience encroachment of plants and tree branches.  Mr. Garwood will request the Barnes Park crew to do some trimming on the trails.
3.         Review of the August 1, 2007 Minutes
	The Commission approved the minutes of August 1, 2007, with a minor change; “Gary Veenstra will be changed to Gary Strange” in the first paragraph.
4.         ACNA Brochure Update
	The Committee discussed the need for a brochure specific to the ACNA, given there is a general brochure for many of the County parks.  Mr. Garwood suggested we might consider working on the brochure once we get the arbors constructed.
5.         Trail Marker Update
	Carl Veenstra indicated he had the post for the trail markers.  He will paint the proper stripes on the top of the post and install them as time permits.
6.         Animal Habitat Update
	Carl Veenstra informed the Committee that he had worked up the land and seeded it with rye this time.  The Conservation District will be asked to supply a DNR mix with wildflower seed for re-planting next spring.
7.         Grant Update
	Mr. Garwood informed the Committee that there is a good chance we will be able to obtain the grant this time around.  The CMP staff indicated if we get the grant we need to complete the project by the end of September 2008.  We agreed to make such a commitment.  Thus, Mr. Garwood indicated if we are awarded the grant we will have to spring into action on the design of the arbors and the information panels, so that we may have them ready to construct in the summer.

The next Antrim Creek Natural Area Commission meeting is scheduled for March 2008 Unless the grant is approved, then there will be a special meeting.
