4. Grant Update |
Mr. Meyers informed the Commission that the County did not receive any of the grants applied for the ACNA. Mr. Meyers informed the Commission that the Coordinator/Planner's Office determined that the Coastal Management Program grant would be the best grant to submit due to the large grants from the MNRTF being applied for in the County (the Hunt Club and the Sevald Property) this year.
Mr. Meyers presented the idea for the grant (informational arbors) and the accompanying maps and information. Mr. Meyers asked for input on the placement of the arbors. The Commission indicated where the best locations for the arbors would be.
Motion by Mary Kay McDuffie, supported by Carl Veenstra to have the Coordinator/Planner's Office pursue the Department of Environmental Quality’s Coastal Management Program Grant. Motion carried – Unanimous. |

5. 2004 Archeological Study Update |
Bob McLeod indicated that in reviewing the study, it seemed that MSU found more of the same artifacts that were found in the last archeological study. Mary Kay McDuffie noted that she was upset with the length of time it took to get the report and further noted that it was not proofread. |
6. Archeological Artifacts Display |
Mr. Meyers informed the Commission that at the September 7, 2005 meeting the Commission tasked the Coordinator/Planner's Office with finding out the procedure of having an Archeological Artifacts Display. Mr. Meyers noted that he had tried to contact numerous people but was unable to get a hold of anyone.
Mr. McLeod tasked the Coordinator/Planner's Office with checking with the local school districts to see if a display of this nature would be of any interest. Mr. McLeod noted that we need to know more about the security needs of the artifacts and how they are being kept at MSU. |
7. Member Comment |
Carl Veenstra noted that there are three pieces of property surrounding ACNA that are for sale. Mr. McLeod noted that the Coordinator/Planner's Office could check into those properties and find out the information. |
