PROPOSALS - STAR TOWNSHIP ONLY Top
The voter may request and obtain either a Democrat or a Republican ballot which also contains the Star proposals OR, if he/she does not want to vote on the President candidates, may obtain a ballot which only contains the proposal(s).

Proposal A
This proposal will permit Star Township to renew a millage of up to 1 mill for four years, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 inclusive to provide funding for the improvement, repair, and maintenance of established roads within the township.

Being a renewal, shall the 15 mill tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes in Star Township, imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution be increased for said Township by up to l mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value in the Township) for four (4) years, 2008 through 2011 inclusive, to provide funding for road maintenance for Star Township? If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $43,600 for road maintenance in the first year.


Proposal B
This proposal will permit Star Township to levy a millage of ½ mill for four years, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 inclusive to provide funding for fire protection equipment for Star Township.

Shall the tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes in Star Township, imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution be increased by up to 0.50 mill ($0.50 per $1,000 of taxable value in the township) for four years, 2008 through 2011 inclusive, to provide funding for fire protection equipment? If approved in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $21,800 in the first year.
PROPOSALS - ELK RAPIDS SCHOOL DISTRICT ONLY Top
THE VOTER MAY REQUEST AND OBTAIN EITHER a Democrat or a Republican Ballot which also contains the Elk Rapids School District Proposal OR, if he/she does not want to vote on the President candidates, may obtain a ballot which only contains the proposal.

PROPOSAL – ELK RAPIDS SCHOOL DISTRICT – Elk Rapids, Milton, and part of Torch Lake Township in Antrim County; portions of Acme and Whitewater Townships in Grand Traverse County; and part of Clearwater Township in Kalkaska County.


This proposal will allow the school district to levy the statutory rate of 18 mills on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance.

Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, in Elk Rapids Schools, Antrim, Grand Traverse, and Kalkaska Counties, Michigan, be increased by 2 mills ($2.00 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 6 years, 2008 to 2013 inclusive, to provide funds for operating purposes, the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2008 is approximately $251,000 (this millage is to restore millage lost as a result of the reduction required by the Michigan Constitution of 1963)?
